CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — A 50-year-old man was hit by a car and killed in Citrus Heights Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials say the man, who has not been identified yet, was crossing Dewey Drive near Connemara Circle around 6:05 p.m. when a Toyota Camry driving southbound Dewey hit him. The man was then pushed into a Honda Odyssey in the northbound lane.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is underway and it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. Lanes in the area were closed but have since reopened, according to the Citrus Heights Police Department.
