CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — A man recently convicted of sexually assaulting seven children faces a maximum 580 years in prison after the jury concluded he took advantage of a position of trust and is a danger to society.
The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office said in a statement that Kirby Torres used great violence and a high degree of cruelty when abusing seven boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 13 from 2010 to 2020.
The jury found the survivors of Torres' crimes were particularly vulnerable at the time of the offenses and were exposed to harmful material.
His crimes ended only after a babysitter overheard one of the child assault survivors talking about sexual conduct with Torres.
Sacramento County Sheriff's detectives and Citrus Heights police investigated Torres before he was arrested and ultimately convicted.
