SACRAMENTO, Calif. — It's been more than two weeks since voters in Sacramento cast their ballots amid a crowded field of candidates running to be the city's next mayor... and now it's clear who's headed to a November runoff.
This comes after concessions from Steve Hansen and Richard Pan. Pan conceded Friday after the latest drop of election results:
"While today’s results are not what we hoped for, I am proud of the campaign we ran. I congratulate both Dr. Flo Cofer and Assemblymember Kevin McCarty for being elected to run for Mayor of Sacramento in the general election in November.
I remain optimistic about our beloved City of Sacramento. I have frequently said Sacramento is a special place full of amazing people, and I am proud to have represented this city for more than a decade. Our city faces serious challenges, and I am hopeful that we will come together to successfully meet those challenges and create the opportunities needed for every person to thrive.
Thank you to all the people who supported me and our campaign over the last nine months in so many ways. I can not express enough how much you mean to me and to our community, and I am grateful for your confidence and commitment. While this race may be over, I remain dedicated to serving the people of Sacramento and will do my part to make Sacramento a great place to live for everyone in our region."
Hansen conceded via a tweet on Tuesday, March 19.
