Coralee Jo Smith identified as woman pulled from American River near Auburn

Despite rescue crews finding Smith and providing medical aid, she died from her injuries.

AUBURN, Calif. — The woman who died Sunday after being pulled from the American River has been identified.

According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, she was 52-year-old Coralee Jo Smith.

The California State Parks Department said crews responded to a reported water rescue Sunday below the Confluence of the American River, in the Auburn area.

Despite finding Smith and providing medical aid, she died from her injuries.
