Man saved after being swept by Cosumnes River without lifejacket

Officials said the person was separated from his tire raft and swept downstream by the Cosumnes River.

RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. — Fire crews were able to save a person from the Cosumnes River near Rancho Murieta Monday afternoon.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said a 19-year-old man was rafting without a lifejacket with friends before the incident happened. 

Officials said the victim was separated from his tire raft and swept downstream by the Cosumnes River. 

However, crews were able to rescue him and bring him to shore before releasing him to his family.
