LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles County firefighters used a hoist to rescue a horse that fell from a trail into a ravine above Sylmar.

Officials say the rescue operation near Little Tujunga Canyon Road took about three hours Saturday afternoon.

KABC-TV says the horse was hoisted to safety from a 150 foot ravine and found to be uninjured.

No humans were hurt.

Personnel from the city fire department and Angeles National Forest assisted in the operation.

Los Angeles County Fire Department with assistance from Los Angeles FD Air Operations, LA County Animal control & a veterinarian from the DART team responded to a horse that had fallen approximately 150 feet into a ravine near Little Tujunga. Camp crew members cleared a large amount of brush with hand tools to allow the #LACoFD Urban Search & Rescue Team & rescuers to make its way to the animal. With guidance from the veterinarian the animal was sedated & properly secured for a hoist operation. #LAFD helicopter hoisted the horse and safely transported it to the landing zone. Within a few minutes the horse was up on its feet and "talking" to his rescuers. This is a great example of the teamwork & coordination amongst the numerous agencies involved today.
