SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Nearly half a dozen people are in custody after an 18-year-old was shot and killed in Sacramento’s Upper Land Park earlier this summer.
The shooting happened around noon Sunday, June 23, at the Marina Vista housing units on the 2700 block of 5th Street.
The victim was identified as 18-year-old Daani Partridge. He was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
The Sacramento Police Department announced Friday that several people were arrested in connection to the case after an Aug. 28 operation.
- 19-year-old Khamari Stroman
- 19-year-old Romell Brooks
- 18-year-old Tashion Brown
- 18-year-old Calvin Warr
- 17-year-old unnamed male
Two others were arrested, though not on homicide-related charges.
Police say the investigation into Partridge’s death is ongoing.
Partridge’s family previously told ABC10 the shooting happened just steps away from their home in June, and that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
His mother, Jameelah Allen, found him outside after hearing bullets riddle her home.
"I would often worry and wonder if something would ever happen to him and my deepest fear was confirmed. That day was a nightmare. Where I'm standing right here, I despise it. I don't even want to be here right now, but it took me enough to come and fight for my son. I'm a warrior from this, a warrior. It should not be like this," Allen said.
Partridge had just graduated from Sacramento Academic and Vocational Academy and turned 18 the week before his death. He had dreams of being a barber.
