Davis' own James Hayakawa appears on Jeopardy

Hayakawa graduated from Ball State University last year and is now based in Chicago.

DAVIS, Calif. — A Davis native got a chance to test his skills on Jeopardy Monday night.

James Hayakawa is a graduate of Davis High School. The now 23-year-old said he is a die-hard Jeopardy fan and has been wanting to be on the show since high school.

"I watched a lot of Jeopardy with my mom and my grandpa, and that's how I first really got into Jeopardy, seeing the Alex Trebek stage where I've watch so many episodes of Jeopardy take place and just, it hits you all at once that, oh my gosh, this is for real," Hayakawa said.

Hayakawa graduated from Ball State University last year and is now based in Chicago, where he is a non-profit program officer and actor.
