Deadly Ceres motorhome fire under investigation

Firefighters arrived to find the motorhome engulfed in flames. Bystanders at the scene reported one person was unaccounted for.

CERES, Calif. — One person was found dead Wednesday after a motorhome fire in Ceres.

The Modesto Fire Department responded to a fire in the 3000 block of Moore Road around 9:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find a motorhome engulfed in flames. Bystanders at the scene reported one person was unaccounted for. 

Firefighters put out the fire and searched the motorhome for the person. The person was found inside and died at the scene. Their identity hasn't been released.

The Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
