YUBA COUNTY, Calif. — One person died in a crash along Highway 70 in Yuba County Wednesday.

California Highway Patrol said the two-vehicle crash happened on the southbound Highway 70 on-ramp at Erle Road, south of Marysville. The southbound on-ramp at Erle Road is closed with no estimated time of reopening.

A spokesperson for California Highway Patrol said a big rig was heading west on Erle Road in the turn lane approaching the on-ramp. A person riding a dirt bike was on the eastbound shoulder heading the wrong way toward the on-ramp. The dirt bike crashed into the semi-truck as it was turning.

The rider was taken to a hospital and later died. The big rig driver wasn't injured. The identity of the person who died hasn't been released, but California Highway Patrol said the dirt bike was stolen.

The deadly crash is under investigation.
