Video shows deputy save man's life near Modesto

Hearing that the nearest ambulance was in Turlock, the deputy took action, put the man in his car and drove him to the hospital.

MODESTO, Calif. — A Stanislaus County deputy's actions helped save a man's life in the unincorporated area of Modesto.

New video released by the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office shows the moments a deputy came across an unresponsive man during his patrol on Nov. 29, 2023. 

The deputy springs into action to save the man's life until the deputy can be heard saying that the man started breathing again and a had a pulse. As more deputies arrive, he can be heard calling for more Narcan.

However, the deputy then says the closest ambulance was in Turlock and gets ready to put the man in a patrol car to get him to a hospital.

Once they're cleared to do so, four deputies carry the man over to the car and drive him to the hospital.

The sheriff's office said Deputy Ruezga's actions helped the victim make a full recovery.
