Rescue turns into recovery for canoer who tipped over into Donner Lake

While a kayaker was able to save one of them, the other is still missing, police said.

TRUCKEE, Calif. — A rescue has turned into a recovery operation after a canoe tipped over in the middle of Donner Lake Wednesday afternoon.

According to Truckee Police Department, officers responded for a report of two adults who tipped over in a canoe. 

While a kayaker was able to save one of them, the other is still missing,  Lt. Kyle Vickers told ABC10.

Resources from the Truckee Fire District, Nevada County Sheriff's Boat and Dive Team, and CHP Air Operations are aiding Truckee police with the recovery operation. They have continued searching into the evening hours.
