SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif — One person is dead after a head-on crash in San Joaquin County.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash was reported around 5:20 p.m. Sunday along Mariposa Road near Skiff Road.
Police said a 2011 Nissan crossed over double-yellow lines and went into the opposite lane.
It's not clear why the driver veered into the opposing lane, but the car ultimately hit a 2015 Ford head-on. The Ford rotated and was also hit by a Mercedes driving behind it.
First responders pulled the people involved from the vehicles and took them to a hospital. The driver of the Nissan died from his injuries just before 7 p.m.
It's not clear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
