Driver dies in crash along I-205 near Tracy

Police said the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — One person is dead after a crash along Interstate 205 near Tracy Thursday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a possible DUI driver in a 2020 white Alfa Romeo was traveling westbound on the interstate, east of Paradise Road, when it reportedly hit a big rig. The collision caused both cars to go off the road and some debris to hit a third car.

The driver of the Alfa Romeo, only described as a 30-year-old woman, was ejected from the car after it overturned several times. Police said she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. She was taken to a hospital but ultimately died.

The big rig driver was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported. 

Police said it's not clear if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
