PENRYN, Calif. — A man is dead after a possible medical issue caused his car to drift off Interstate 80 and crash.
According to California Highway Patrol, a 76-year-old man was driving with his wife along eastbound I-80 near Rock Springs Road in the Penryn area. Police said the car drifted off the roadway and off the road.
Citing statements from the scene, police said the driver might have suffered a medical issue that caused the car to go off the road.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was taken to a hospital for a complaint of pain and precautionary reasons. The car had only moderate damage to its right passenger side.
