Construction underway on phase 1 of a Roseville trail

The Dry Creek Greenway East is a multi-use paved trail where people can ride bicycles, walk, run, walk dogs and more.

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Construction on the first phase of the Dry Creek Greenway East project is underway, according to the city of Roseville.

The greenway is a multi-use paved trail where people can ride bicycles, walk, run, walk dogs and more.

The first phase will extend from Riverside Avenue to Rocky Ridge Drive. It's expected to take about two and a half years to complete. The second phase will continue east near Old Auburn Road and South Cirby Way. The total length of the trail is 4.25 miles.

According to Roseville, people can expect to see crews removing trees and vegetation to clear a path for the bikeway construction.

"The Dry Creek Greenway will be an important link for transportation, recreation and students traveling to school, and part of this first phase of the trail will include separated bike lanes that will connect the trail to a nearby elementary school," Helen Dyda, a spokesperson for the city of Roseville, previously told ABC10.

The trail is ultimately planned to connect with the future Dry Creek Greenway West. It's also part of a series of existing and planned trails that will form a loop around the Greater South Placer and Sacramento area, according to the city.

The Dry Creek Greenway West would potentially be a three-mile multi-use trail between Cook Riolo Road and Riverside Avenue.

The Dry Creek Greenway is one of the trails in Roseville's Bicycle Master Plan and Placer County's Bicycle Master Plan.
