Preliminary M3.4 earthquake rattles Bay Area

The earthquake's epicenter was reported nearly two miles east of Berkeley.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A preliminary magnitude 3.4 earthquake struck the San Francisco Bay Area Saturday.

 The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck shortly after 11:12 a.m. Saturday.

 It was centered about two miles east southeast of Berkeley.

There are no immediate reports of damage. A map of where the earthquake was likely felt can be found HERE

The quake comes a day after an unusual 4.8 magnitude earthquake shook the East Coast. Back in northern California on Thursday, a 4.3 and 4.5 magnitude earthquake rattled Plumas County near the community of Belden.
