Woman killed while riding scooter in East Sacramento identified as UC Davis resident physician

The UC Davis Department of Psychiatry says she was two months into residency and had recently moved from the East Coast to California.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The woman hit and killed while riding a scooter in East Sacramento has been identified as a first-year resident physician at UC Davis.

According to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, she was 32-year-old Geohaira Sosa.

The deadly crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Aug 29. Police say she was riding a scooter when she was hit along the 1200 block of Alhambra Boulevard. She died at the scene.

A GoFundMe organized by the UC Davis Department of Psychiatry says Sosa was two months into residency and had recently moved from the East Coast to California.

“Geo was an absolutely beautiful person inside and out. Many of her co-interns who had the privilege and joy of spending time with Geo these past few months felt that she was becoming one of our own best friends. She was just that type of person to make you feel that way. She radiated joy, kindness, and authenticity. We hope to carry forward her spirit in our communities,” reads the fundraiser.

Funds will go to her father for funeral and memorial expenses. You can find it HERE.
