Ebony Alert issued for 14 year old missing from Elk Grove since May

She was last seen May 14 on Auberry Drive and Power Inn Road.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol has issued an Ebony Alert for a 14-year-old girl in Sacramento County.

According to CHP, Kamara Green was last seen around 8 a.m. May 14 on Auberry Drive and Power Inn Road in Elk Grove.

She was last seen wearing a black turtleneck dress, black pants and flip-flops. She is around 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs around 125 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair.

Kamara's mother, Kayla, is pleading for help in finding and bringing her daughter home.

"Going everyday not knowing my daughter is, watching the news, dead bodies turning up — hoping it's not my daughter that they're finding," Kayla said.

The Monterey Trails ninth grader was supposed to go to school on May 14, but she never showed up and never came home.

Eleven weeks after Kamara went missing, the California Highway Patrol issued an 'Ebony Alert.' The alert is a new resource for agencies as they investigate the disappearance of a Black child or woman between the ages 12 and 25.

Kayla said it's possible her daughter is with a man from Texas who was exchanging messages with Kamara.

She added that she's also frustrated it took weeks to issue the Ebony Alert.

"I think that it'd be more attention given to my daughter. They would be more on top of the evidence or the supporting things that I could give them to help the case out," Kayla said.

A spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, the investigating agency, said the alert wasn't issued because it didn't meet the criteria for the alert. He said there are no other risk factors in the case and that the alert was issued now due to the length of time she's been missing.

Call 911 if you see Green.
