EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — A woman was killed and a child seriously injured in a crash Thursday on Highway 193 in El Dorado County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 1:40 p.m. near Circle Drive.
Upon arrival officers found two vehicles were involved in a crash – a Toyota Highlander and a Freightliner towing a trailer.
The driver of the Toyota, 79-year-old Stefan Key of Hidden Valley Lake, died at the scene. Her 4-year-old passenger had major injuries and was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The relationship between the two people is unclear and their names haven't been released.
The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
