A suspect is in custody after a domestic dispute led to a standoff and fire Monday morning in Cameron Park.
The standoff occurred in the 3000 block of Oakwood Drive, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office said. Law enforcement officers were called to a home at about 2:32 a.m. to investigate a domestic dispute.
Officers heard shots fired when they arrived and tried to speak with a man inside the home, the sheriff's office said. The man barricaded himself inside the home.
Neighbors said they then heard an explosion, and a fire started.
The sheriff's office said the home was fully involved by the blaze, and some neighboring residences were evacuated.
Arrested was Michael Hoffer, 44, of Cameron Park, The sheriff's office said he was booked into custody for assault on a peace officer with a firearm, attempted murder and felony domestic battery.
A woman who was outside the home when officers arrived is safe, the sheriff's office said.
