ELK GROVE, Calif. — Excelerate Housing Group recently released new renderings and plans for an 81-unit affordable housing project called 'Coral Blossom Apartments' in Elk Grove.
The Long Beach-based developer settled a legal dispute earlier this year with the city of Elk Grove stemming from city officials denying developers their initially proposed Oak Rose Apartments location.
Both the developer and California Attorney General Rob Bonta stepped in to sue the city, and though the lawsuit with Bonta remains unresolved, city officials settled with Excelerate Housing Group.
As part of the settlement, the developer submitted new plans for a vacant parcel at 8484 Elk Grove-Florin Road.
Coral Blossom Apartments aims to provide permanent supportive housing and other support services for residents experiencing homelessness.
“We are very happy with the 8484 Elk Grove-Florin Road site as it allows us to increase the size and number of units offered in the Coral Blossom Apartments project and provide additional amenities to future residents compared to the Elk Grove Boulevard site. 8484 Elk Grove-Florin Road is a larger site allowing the project design to have more open space and parking and the ability to house additional people,” Excelerate Housing Group CEO and President Dana Trujillo told ABC10.
City officials have until June 30 to approve the developer's proposal, or Excelerate Housing Group has the option to terminate the agreement and the city must pay the developers $2.2 million.
