ELK GROVE, Calif. — If you are in the mood to try new flavors and help the local economy, you are in luck.
Elk Grove Restaurant Week is underway. Organized by Explore Elk Grove, people can sign up for the free dining pass, visit participating restaurants, eat out and win prizes.
The program kicked off Friday and runs for 10 days, offering an array of discounts and deals at local restaurants.
“We were participating last year, and we had a great turnout last year,” said Jordyn Tatlow, who has worked with Sheldon Inn Restaurant and Bar for the past five years. “It supports a lot of restaurants in Elk Grove that are local. They get to try dishes that are not on our normal menu.”
Tatlow said January is considered a slower month for the restaurant industry, but on Sunday night, on top of their regulars, the staff at Sheldon Inn were also serving customers coming because of Elk Grove Restaurant Week.
Marie Mertz, with Todo Un Poco in west Elk Grove, is also participating for another year and with a special selection.
“A lot of people are going to have an opportunity to go and visit so many restaurants in our community that maybe deserve to be discovered,” said Marie Mertz, chef/owner at Todo Un Poco.
The Sheldon Inn and Todo Un Poco are just some of the Elk Grove restaurants participating. Mertz said the program is a way of saying thank you but also helping the local economy.
The program runs through Sunday, Jan. 21 and includes 45 restaurants. For more information on how to sign up, click here.
