Elk Grove police searching for suspect allegedly causing explosions with illegal fireworks

The request for the public's help comes after an explosion was reported inside the Jones Family Park bathroom around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and another Wednesday.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — Elk Grove police are looking to identify the suspect they say is responsible for setting off two explosions this week.

The request for the public's help comes after an explosion was reported inside the Jones Family Park bathroom around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The next day, almost exactly 24 hours later, a trash bin in Baneberry Court exploded. Police say they believe the same person caused both explosions.

Investigation into the explosions found them to be "high-grade illegal commercial fireworks," according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

Video caught by a home security camera shows a man wearing a black hoodie, black and white plaid or striped pants on a bicycle.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding this investigation can contact them at 916-627-8097 or Sacramento Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
