ELK GROVE, Calif. — A 55-year-old man died after being hit by a vehicle in Elk Grove Monday night.
The man was walking in a northbound lane of West Stockton Boulevard near Whitelock Parkway. when a vehicle traveling in the same direction struck and killed him, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.
According to police, the driver involved in the crash initially left the scene but was followed by a witness. The driver eventually pulled over and returned to the scene about 30 minutes later.
Police say the driver has been cooperating with the investigation.
The man hit was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner’s office will release his identity when available.
