Motorcyclist dead, 1 hurt in Elk Grove crash

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the car was taken to the hospital where they are expected to be OK, according to police.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — A motorcyclist died and another person was hospitalized in an Elk Grove crash Friday night, according to officials. 

Elk Grove Police Department officials the crash happened on Elk Grove Florin Road between West Camden Drive and Sheldon Road. Roads were closed for about three hours but have since been reopened. 

Officials say the motorcyclist was driving at a "high rate of speed," northbound on Elk Grove Florin Road while a white Nissan turned from southbound Elk Grove Florin Road. The motorcycle then hit the Nissan.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the car was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police. 

The crash is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
