ELK GROVE, Calif — Update: 5 p.m.
Power was restored to more than 1,000 customers after an outage in the Elk Grove area. SMUD expected to be fully restored to all areas around 5:20 p.m.

Nearly 1,300 customers are without power in Elk Grove.
The Sacramento Municipal Utilities District is reporting an unplanned outage in the area of Elk Grove Florin Road and Calvine Road.
It's not clear what caused the outage, but SMUD is expecting the power to return around 5:20 p.m. The outage started just before 4:20 p.m.
