Update: Police make arrests in Elk Grove WinCo shooting of teenager

A teenager and two people were walking out of WinCo when someone opened fire.

Elk Grove police have made two arrests on a shooting that happened by an Elk Grove WinCo on Friday.

The first arrest came when a 17-year old juvenile turned himself in to the police department on December 30th. 

On December 31, the Elk Grove police arrested Davonntay Jones-Carnes of Elk Grove in the La Rivera Drive area of Sacramento.

Both suspects have been charged with allegations of attempted murder and conspiracy.

Police in Elk Grove are searching for the shooter after a teenager was shot outside a grocery store Friday morning. 

According to Jason Jimenez, public information officer with the Elk Grove Police Department, just before 5 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired outside Winco, 8142 Sheldon Road.

When they arrived, officers found a 15-year-old victim, lying next to a car in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim has been transported to a hospital where his condition was upgraded from life-threatening to stable. 

The victim and two other people had just got out of the store, which is open 24 hours when he was shot. 

The suspect is described as an adult, Hispanic male wearing a hooded sweatshirt. It is believed he fled the scene in a mid-2000's four-door sedan.
