The victim killed in a early morning crash on Interstate 5 in Elk Grove was identified as 30-year-old Colin Michael Mulhern, according to Sacramento County Coroner records.
Mulhern, who is from Colorado, was riding in a van carrying at least six passengers when a woman who was allegedly drunk driving smashed into them.
Three of the other passengers were taken to the hospital with major injuries, and two others suffered minor injuries.
The woman was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, California Highway Patrol said.

One person died and six people were injured in an early Monday morning accident along Interstate 5 in Elk Grove, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
The two-car accident happened shortly after 2:35 a.m. on northbound I-5 between Twin Cities and Hood Franklin roads. According to CHP officials, passengers were ejected from the white van upon impact.
CHP officials said three people have major injuries and three others suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the Ford Escape was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.
