Sacramento woman missing while camping near middle fork of Yuba River

She is considered at-risk and was last seen around 9-10 a.m. Monday at a mining claim camp near the middle fork of the Yuba River.

NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. — A search is underway Wednesday for a missing Sacramento woman who was camping near the middle fork of the Yuba River.

The Nevada County Sheriff's Office said Esmeralda Marie Pineda was last seen Monday, August 26 near the middle fork of the Yuba River and Sweetland Creek. It's between Sweetland and Sebastapol. She is considered at-risk and was last seen around 9-10 a.m. Monday at a mining claim camp.

The 24-year-old is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 169 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing a black sweatshirt, leggings with a floral design, tennis shoes and a black Swiss backpack, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office and Nevada County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team are looking for her.

The sheriff's office said she is from Sacramento and may be trying to get back to the area. Anyone with information about where she is or possible sighting can call the sheriff’s regional dispatch center at (530) 265-7880.
