The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said there were reports of explosions near the temple around 3:30 p.m.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Large explosions reported near the Sikh Temple on Gerber and Bradshaw roads were propane tanks caught in the path of a fire, officials said.

A spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said everyone was out of the building at the time and there are no injuries. It was reported around 3:30 p.m.

In an update, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said their crews arrived to a working fire at a stand-alone building in front of the Sikh Temple in South Sacramento. Battalion Chief Parker Wilbourn said the two cars in front of the building were also engulfed in flames.

Arriving fire crews said they heard loud explosions that were identified as multiple large propane tanks stored against the building and in the path of the blaze. Wilbourn said some of the tanks impacted were around 50 to 100 pounds.

Fire officials said the tanks were blew up and traveled in excess of 50 feet while the fire burned into the attic, causing a partial roof collapse.

The temple itself was not damaged.

The Sikh Coalition provided the following statement after the fire.
