FAIR OAKS, Calif. — Firefighters are looking into what caused a fire at a former Boston Market along Fair Oaks Boulevard on Sunday.
The fire happened at the now vacant Boston Market on Fair Oaks Boulevard around 11 a.m., according to Battalion Chief Chris Vestal with Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
Vestal said crews did a search while fighting the blaze to determine whether anyone was inside, but they didn't find anyone.
Afterward, he said crews focused on keeping the fire to the building and preventing it from spreading, noting that the winds could have pushed embers or flames into other businesses.
It's not clear what caused the fire, but Vestal said once the fire is out, they'll be able to investigate it thoroughly with video from bystanders and security video.
Crews are expected to be in the area for several hours due to the fire.
