CARMICHAEL, Calif. — A man was killed after he allegedly forced his way into the apartment his ex-girlfriend was staying at in Carmichael, deputies said.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said the deadly shooting was reported around 2 a.m. Sunday along the 5900 block of Sutter Avenue.
Sgt. Amar Gandhi, spokesperson for the sheriff's office, said the ex-boyfriend forced his way into an apartment where his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend were staying. The ex-boyfriend assaulted the new boyfriend and a fight happened which ultimately led to the new boyfriend shooting the ex-boyfriend. He died at the scene.
Gandhi said everyone involved is cooperating with the investigation.
The sheriff's office said in an update on Monday no criminal charges would be filed.
