Fair Oaks to host Christmas tree lighting with food trucks, live performances

The free holiday celebration will light the tree at 5:30 p.m. Saturday

FAIR OAKS, Calif. — The Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District (FORPD) will host a Christmas tree lighting Saturday in Fair Oaks Park.

From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the free holiday celebration will feature live performances, craft and food vendors, hot cocoa, children’s games and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus for free, according to the Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District website. The tree will light at 5:30 p.m.

“The (district) is excited about the annual tree lighting event…because it kicks off the holiday season with our community,” said Nick Davison, a FORPD spokesman. “The event itself helps to create opportunities for community engagement, promote a festive atmosphere and showcase the spirit of the holiday season.”

Davison said he is unsure on what number year this may be for the annual celebration.

General parking is first come, first serve in the upper lot of Fair Oaks Park, the website said. There will be no general parking at the main entrance on Temple Park Road, and carpooling and ride-sharing is highly recommended.

Food trucks expected to appear include Allen BBQ, California Street Tacos and the Mini Donut Shack.
