FAIR OAKS, Calif. — A man was hit and killed by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Fair Oaks.
The California Highway Patrol's East Sacramento office said the crash happened before 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Hazel Avenue and Winding Way. The crash briefly prompted road closures in the area.
The CHP said a woman was driving south in a Subaru SUV while a man walked into the traffic lane outside of a marked crosswalk. He then went directly into the path of the Subaru and was hit by the vehicle in the roadway.
Officials said the man died from the injuries he received in the crash. The driver of the Subaru wasn't injured.
