Man killed in Fair Oaks shooting was Folsom CVS manager

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office said 41-year-old Vitaliy Zaytsev died Friday.

FAIR OAKS, Calif. — A man who died after a shooting in Fair Oaks Friday has been identified.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified him as 41-year-old Vitaliy Zaytsev. He was the manager at a CVS in Folsom along Madison Avenue, according to a CVS spokesperson.

"Vitaliy was well-liked and respected by his colleagues, customers and community and he will be greatly missed. We’ve offered counseling and support services to his co-workers and are fully cooperating with the police investigation," a CVS spokesperson told ABC10 in a statement. "While there is no indication that this incident is related to security measures in our stores, the safety of our colleagues and customers while on our store premises is always a high priority."

The sheriff's office said deputies initially responded to the 4900 block of Hillridge Way just before 11 p.m. for a man reportedly injured and bleeding.

When deputies arrived, they found Zaytsev unresponsive with a severe head injury. He died at the scene.

Deputies said his injury appeared to be from a gunshot wound and that the shooting is being investigated as a homicide.

Anyone with information on the shooting can call the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
