FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Anheuser-Busch said Thursday it will invest $7 million in its Fairfield brewery for infrastructure projects including updates to the roof, equipment overhauls and new lighting.
The investment is part of long-term growth of the company’s facilities to improve output, according to a news release. Anheuser-Busch reportedly employs over 3,400 people across 14 facilities in California, and it’s spent nearly $2 billion on facilities nationwide in the last five years to help create and sustain jobs, the company said.
Anheuser-Busch reportedly operates over 120 facilities across 24 states; it employs approximately 65,000 Americans, the company said.
"Through this financial commitment for the future, (Anheuser Busch is) not only revitalizing their infrastructure; they're also reinforcing Fairfield's pivotal role as a cornerstone of their business,” said Lance Hastings, president and CEO of the California Manufacturers and Technology Association (CMTA). “Anheuser-Busch's enduring legacy in California not only contributes significantly to our economy but also sets a benchmark for efficiency and innovation in the brewing industry."
Fairfield’s brewery produces over 20 of Anheuser-Busch's brands and has a 99% recycling rate, the company said. The $7 million investment reportedly goes to brewing, packaging and distributing beer.
"Our team of incredible brewers is proud of the legacy of quality and excellence that has long defined Anheuser-Busch," said Nathan Murphy, general manager of the Fairfield brewery. "The ongoing investment in our facility and upgrades to our infrastructure will continue to support the capabilities at our brewery and position our team to continue to produce the highest-quality beer nationwide."
Eberhard Anheuser emigrated to Missouri in 1843 and later bought a brewery, according to the company’s website. He bought out all other investors by 1860 and changed the name to E. Anheuser & Co.
In 2024, Anheuser-Busch produces several popular beer and beer-related brands including Michelob Ultra, Cutwater Spirits, Stella Artois, Budweiser and Bud Light.
