Robert Fire: Evacuation warnings lifted in Fairfield

A 15-acre vegetation fire temporarily caused evacuation warnings Sunday in Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A 47.5-acre vegetation fire temporarily caused evacuation warnings Sunday in parts of Fairfield.

Around 2 p.m., the Robert Fire is approximately 15 acres and burning at a moderate rate of spread, according to the Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit. The fire is between Highway 12 in the north and Interstate 80 in the south, just west of Cordelia. Forward progress was stopped around 2:20 p.m. Sunday, and the blaze is 50% contained.

Evacuations warnings for the fire were lifted around 2:35 p.m., according to Fairfield Fire Department.

Wildfire Preps

If you live in a wildfire-prone zone, Cal Fire suggests creating a defensible space around your home. Defensible space is an area around a building in which vegetation and other debris are completely cleared. At least 100 feet is recommended.

The Department of Homeland Security suggests assembling an emergency kit that has important documents, N95 respirator masks, and supplies to grab with you if you’re forced to leave at a moment’s notice. The agency also suggests signing up for local warning system notifications and knowing your community’s evacuation plans best to prepare yourself and your family in cases of wildfires.
