Man rescued after crash on Interstate 80 in Fairfield

Fairfield firefighters saved a driver from a 15-foot canal after he crashed off Interstate 80.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A man was rescued after they crashed off Interstate 80 Saturday, according to the Fairfield Fire Department.

The crash happened Saturday night on eastbound 80 near West Texas Street. The Fairfield Fire Department said the man crashed into Ledgewood Creek near Automall Parkway after veering off the highway.

The driver was rescued from the 15-foot canal via rope and transported to a local hospital. His injuries are currently unknown.
