Fairfield officer saves home from fire on Fourth of July

Fairfield police said the fence was on fire and there were embers on the roof of the home.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A Fairfield officer's quick thinking helped save a home on the Fourth of July.

The officer, Officer Neal, responded to a fire call along the 1900 block of Sherwood Court just after 10 p.m. However, he quickly sprang into action after noticing fire on a fence and embers on a neighboring home's roof.

He tried to reach the homeowners, but moving quickly, he grabbed a garden hose to douse the fire, police said.

Fairfield Police Department said the home was saved in part due to his quick thinking.
