FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Fairfield is hosting the return of their annual tree lighting Friday to kick off the holiday season.
"It’s a traditional fun, free, family event that the community looks forward to every year and the City of Fairfield Parks and Recreation Events Team is proud to present," said Juanita Johnson, Parks and Recreation Superintendent.
The event is open to Fairfield residents and will feature open houses of businesses in the downtown area while bringing the community together from 6-8:30 p.m. on Texas Street, between the blocks of Union Avenue and Madison Street.
While the event starts at 6 p.m., allowing residents to have some time to enjoy the carolers, downtown businesses and hot cocoa, the tree will be lit by Fairfield Mayor Catherine Moy around 6:30 p.m. on the corner of Texas and Jefferson streets.
Organizers say the event will have live musical performances, trackless train and pony rides, hot cocoa for the cold evening, photos with Santa and music played by the Grinch Who DJ'd Christmas among other activities.
Businesses in the area will have window displays for the holiday season and some will be hosting open houses during the event. For more information, click HERE.
