PG&E outage leaves hundreds in Fairfield without power

PG&E's outage map estimates power will be restored around 11 p.m.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A PG&E power outage in Solano County has thousands of customers without power during the start of a heat wave Tuesday.

The outage was reported to PG&E around 3:35 p.m. Fairfield city officials say a transformer blew and sparked a vegetation fire behind the 500 block of Union Avenue, but fire crews are putting it out. PG&E says a "failed connection on a pole" caused the outage.

More than 1,200 customers are without power, down from more than 3,000 earlier in the day.

The outage map estimates power will be restored around 11 p.m. No other information is currently available.
