Firefighters save dog from house fire

Moderate damage was sustained to the interior of the home, but all occupants are accounted for

NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. — Firefighters came to the rescue of a small dog stuck in a house fire in North Highlands.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews responded to a house fire at the 5400 block of Koehler Road. Firefighters were able to rescue a dog from the house, provide medical aid, and return them to their owner safely.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. The district said moderate damage was sustained to the interior of the home, but all occupants are accounted for.

The district said the fire is under investigation.
