New Folsom medical office finds developer. Announced in 2020, it won’t open until 2027

The Dignity Health care center is scheduled to break ground in 2025. Once open, it will offer an outpatient surgery center, a lab, telehealth and home monitoring.

FOLSOM, Calif. — A Dignity Health medical office building first announced for Folsom four years ago has finally found its developers, the company announced Tuesday.

NexCore, a Denver health care real estate company, will develop the ambulatory care center at Folsom Ranch, while the Chicago-based Perkins&Will oversees its architecture, according to a Dignity Health news release. The center is slated to start construction spring 2025 and open in 2027.

The center will reflect the current and future needs of Folsom, according to the health care company. It offers an outpatient surgery center, a lab, telehealth and home monitoring as part of its construction plans, Dignity Health said.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the incredibly talented teams at Perkins&Will and NexCore for the Advanced Ambulatory Care Center (AACC),” said Lisa Hausmann, the president and CEO of Mercy Hospital of Folsom, in a statement. “This expansion enables us to broaden our footprint and service offerings to ensure the Folsom community and surrounding area continue to have access to high-quality health care.”

The building stands at Mercy Drive and McCarthy Way within the Folsom Plan Area south of Highway 50, roughly three miles away from Mercy Hospital of Folsom — also operated by Dignity Health. The existing hospital celebrates 35 years serving Folsom in 2024.

The new office is reportedly the first phase of an integrated medical campus at Folsom Ranch, which could eventually include an acute care hospital depending on population growth and demand, the company said.

Dignity Health operates 41 acute care hospitals and over 400 care centers in California, Nevada and Arizona.

NexCore was founded in 2004 and has developed about 12.7 million square feet of health care property within America, according to the company’s LinkedIn; Perkins&Will was founded in 1935 and now functions out of roughly 30 offices worldwide, its website said.
