1 arrested, accused of attempted murder after SUV vs. motorcycle crash in Folsom

Just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Folsom Police Department responded to an SUV versus motorcycle crash at East Bidwell Street and Iron Point Road.

FOLSOM, Calif. — A man was arrested Tuesday in Folsom on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly crashing an SUV into a motorcycle, authorities said.

Just before 8 p.m., multiple callers alerted the Folsom Police Department to an SUV versus motorcycle crash at East Bidwell Street and Iron Point Road, according to a department news release on Facebook.

Police and other emergency personnel responded and said an investigation revealed the SUV driver allegedly struck the motorcyclist on purpose.

The motorcyclist reportedly suffered only a broken ankle and minor injuries, police said.

Police said Anders Blair Erickson, 23, of Folsom, was identified as the SUV driver and arrested in connection with attempted murder. He was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail early Wednesday morning, jail records show.

He faces one felony assault with a deadly weapon charge and is ineligible for bail, records show. He is expected to appear Thursday afternoon in Sacramento County Superior Court.

“Thank you to the several (individuals) who stopped to help and waited for emergency crews to arrive,” the department said.

Officers and emergency personnel rushed to the area. Through their investigation, they determined that the driver of the SUV chased and intentionally struck the motorcyclist. Although the video is disturbing, the rider suffered only a broken ankle and minor injuries. Thank you to the several invidiuals who stopped to help and waited for emergency crews to arrive. The driver of the SUV, Anders Erikson, 23, of Folsom, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for attempted murder. Because the case is pending prosecution, additional details surrounding the incident are not being released.
