Investigators say the SUV left the road, struck a light pole, then flipped on its top before finally coming to a stop. A witness in the area told police that the SUV was speeding just before the crash.

Police say the driver, 21-year-old Alexis Little, was showing signs of being intoxicated when they arrived. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries she sustained in the crash. Later, police say she was arrested on complaints of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.

Five people, including Little, were inside the SUV at the time of the crash. Four were taken to the hospital for moderate injuries, police said. The passenger who was killed has been identified as Joshua Lowery, 28, of Cameron Park.
