Costco in El Dorado Hills? Here’s when the warehouse retailer could submit store plans

El Dorado County Supervisor John Hidahl said Costco bought land straddling Silva Valley Parkway with the intention of building a shopping center and a gas station.

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. — County leaders say Costco could submit plans to build a shopping center and gas station sprawled across 40 acres in El Dorado Hills as soon as next month.

El Dorado County District 1 Supervisor John Hidahl, whose jurisdiction houses the project, said in August on Facebook that Costco bought land straddling Silva Valley Parkway with the intention of building a shopping center and a gas station.

“Site plans are pending, but there will be a substantial distance between the contemplated improvements and any residential or school property,” he wrote in his post.

The purchased property’s northern border parallels Oak Meadow Elementary School in the Buckeye Union School District. It borders a section of Village Green Drive in the east, the westbound Highway 50 on-ramp in the south and Clarksville Crossing in the west.

The El Dorado County Department of Transportation is ironing out details with Costco, according to county spokeswoman Carla Hass. When those talks conclude, she said the county anticipates the company will submit revised plans to reflect new conditions.

Hass said those plans will be made public along with a fact sheet.

“At this point, no formal plans have been submitted which include a fuel center, nor has the county provided any formal community update to that effect,” she said.

County residents can expect a Costco project submission by Nov. 6, according to El Dorado Hills Community Council meeting minutes, which reported resubmission would likely occur 30 days from Oct. 7.

“Costco cannot comment on new locations unless they are opening soon,” a company note read after ABC10 submitted a media request form Tuesday afternoon through Costco’s website.
