FOLSOM, Calif. — A vehicle was recovered Friday morning from an American River embankment near the Folsom Historic Truss Bridge.
Just after 1:30 a.m., officers with the Folsom Police Department responded to a solo vehicle accident involving a 21-year-old Lincoln woman who drove off the road, the department told ABC10.
The woman was suspected to be under the influence and suffered minor injuries, police said. She was cited and released early Friday morning.
Police said her vehicle’s recovery was delayed until later Friday morning so it would be safer.
The road near the historic bridge where the woman’s vehicle went down does not have a shoulder, and marked patrol units closed part of the road to allow tow truck drivers a safe place to park and recover the vehicle, law enforcement said.
The tow truck used a winch to pull the vehicle back onto the road, where it could then be placed on the back of a tow truck. Vehicle recoveries of this nature take roughly 30 minutes, according to law enforcement.
