FOLSOM, Calif. — A man was arrested on suspicion of abuse Friday in Folsom, authorities said.
Just after 8 a.m., officers responded to a reported assault along Humbug Creek Trail in the area of East Bidwell Street and Creekside Drive, according to the Folsom Police Department.
Albert Schadwillv, 50, allegedly approached a man on his daily walk along the trail, punched him and then hit the man with his own cane, police said.
Schadwillv is reportedly homeless, and the victim is not. The two men did not know each other, according to law enforcement.
Members of the Folsom Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Team (HOT), which currently consists of one sergeant and two officers, responded to the call with several other officers.
Schadwillv was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail around 11 a.m. Friday morning. He faces a felony charge pertaining to willfully causing or permitting elder or dependent adult abuse, jail records show. He is ineligible for bail.
He is expected to appear Tuesday afternoon in Sacramento County Superior Court, according to the jail.
A homelessness outreach nonprofit told ABC10 on Tuesday representatives know Schadwillv very well but declined a request to comment as the case is active.
