SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — A Sacramento County man is in custody after he allegedly shot another man who took his fentanyl last Tuesday.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened around 8 a.m. Nov. 28 at the Folsom Gateway Apartments on Greenback Lane in Orangevale.

Upon arrival deputies learned a man with a gunshot wound drove himself to a nearby fire station and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The sheriff’s office now says the unidentified victim went to the apartment to buy fentanyl and tried to take it without paying for it. The suspect, 20-year-old Donavan Mullen, chased the victim outside.

Mullen allegedly fired a gun into the rear window of the victim’s car, hitting him at least once in the arm and causing serious injuries.

Mullen turned himself in Sunday and he was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He is due in court Tuesday.
